Tank history:
My 58 was
initially set up in Spring of 2003, with stocking starting in late
May. About 1/3 of the live rock was `new' and cured in-tank, the
rest came from my wife's FOWLR which she was taking down at the
time.
Initial corals
came from her 10g nano [Brain, Bubble, Colt]. As time went by,
I set up a second tank for the brain - and moved the softies there
as well to let this be the stony-coral dominated it is today.
I've learned
a lot caring for this tank and it's inhabitants - it hasn't been
all good luck yet I feel blessed with the great advice I've received
along the way and credit much of my success to that. Read, then
buy is how I've always tried to act - and it seems like that's
where I've found the most success.
Most of the corals
in this tank have been grown from frags that I've gotten from other
hobbyists or vendors who propagate. It's a long wait to get them
large, but I also feel proud to have overlooked as much growth as
I've seen already.
Currently,
I'm slowly buying and planning for a 120g upgrade during the next
winter. I've collected more little corals than I'd want for this
tank right now, but before I have space/ aggression issues I'll
have a new, much more spacious home where they can grow to their
full size.
