Yellow `Fiji' Leather

I was lucky enough to find a captive propagated piece of this coral in June 2004 from Phishy Business, at the IMAC convention.

While my initial thoughts were to keep it in my 40g softie tank, it didn't fully extend or regularly put out it's polyps in there. After becoming concern on it's extended periods spent closed and seemingly decreasing size, I put it in the 58 among the stony corals. Within an hour it was fully expanded, polyps all out ... and it's done wonderful since.

Now I notice every time in dive photos how these corals tend to be fairly shallow, often not far from Acropora corals. That's just from-pictures impressions - never very reliable, but it seems to thrive with the stonies.

Pictures below are arranged in sequential order, from June '04 to May '05.
